Denmark

In the summer of 2026, Kim, my oldest son and me made a trip with the campervan around Jutland. We started in Denmarks oldest city Ribe travelling all the way up to the north along the westcoast to Skagen and back south along the eastcoast visiting Frederikshavn, Ebeltoft and Nationalpark Mols Bjerge and Århus. Later more.

Our first stop in Denmark on our way to Ribe was at Højrup Kirke, a very characteristic Lutheran church as turned out later when we noticed plenty similar churches around the whole of Jutland.

It wasn't the first time I visited Denmark though. It was for a few days during the end of the Christmas holidays in January 2001. At the time, I had just received my driver's license, and Kim and I went with a friend, a more experienced driver, and had a good time in Copenhagen and at Møns Klint. At the time I didn't rephotograph Kurt Hielscher's photos there, simply because I had not learn about him nor his books yet.

Staying for the night on the island of Jegindø within the Limfjord with its clear waters and more up to the north at Blokhus Beach.

Our final destination was the uttermost northern point of Denmark where Skaggerak and Kattegat meet at Grenen, just north of the nice village of Skagen. Den Tilsandede Kirke is to be found just south of Skagen.
